SEO Page Optimizer ("the Extension") is a browser extension that analyzes the SEO health of web pages and provides actionable fix suggestions. This privacy policy explains what data is collected and how it is used.

Data Collection

Data Stored Locally

The following data is stored in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) and never leaves your device:

Analysis cache — The most recent SEO analysis result for the current page (score, issues, content metrics)
Analysis history — Past analysis results per URL (up to 20 entries) for score trend tracking (Pro feature)
Score trends — Historical score data points per URL (up to 30 entries per URL)
License state — Whether a Pro license is active (boolean flag)
License key — Your Polar license key (if activated)
Activation ID — Your Polar activation identifier (if activated)
Subscription expiry date — Next renewal date for subscription management

Anonymous Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

The Extension sends anonymous usage events via the GA4 Measurement Protocol:

extension_installed — sent once on first install
extension_updated — sent on extension version update
page_analyzed — sent when a page is analyzed (event name only; no page URL or content is included)
issue_clicked — sent when an issue category is expanded (category name only)
pro_upgrade_clicked — sent when the upgrade button is clicked
weekly_active — sent once per week to measure active usage

      No page content or URLs are ever transmitted. Analytics events contain only a randomly generated client ID, the event name, and the extension name. No personally identifiable information (PII) is included.
    

License Validation (Polar)

When a license key is entered, the Extension communicates with the Polar API (api.polar.sh) to:

Validate the license key status
Activate or deactivate the license

Only the license key and organization ID are sent. No page content or personal information is transmitted.

Page Analysis

When you click the extension icon, the Extension injects a script into the current page to read SEO-relevant HTML elements:

Title tag, meta description, meta robots
Heading structure (H1-H6)
Image alt attributes
Link elements (internal/external)
Open Graph and Twitter Card meta tags
JSON-LD structured data
Canonical URL and viewport meta

This data is analyzed entirely within your browser. No page content is sent to any external server.

Competitor Comparison (Pro Feature)

When you use the competitor comparison feature, the Extension fetches the competitor page's HTML to perform a local SEO analysis. This requires a one-time host permission grant for the target domain. The fetched HTML is analyzed locally and is not stored or transmitted externally.

Data NOT Collected

The Extension does not collect:

Page content or URLs (analysis is entirely local)
Browsing history or visited URLs
Personal information (name, email, etc.)
Cookies or tracking identifiers
Screenshots or page content
Keystroke data or form inputs

Data Retention

Local storage data persists until you uninstall the Extension or clear browser data
Analytics events are retained according to Google Analytics' standard retention policy
License data is managed by Polar according to their privacy policy
